Colleague of journalist with NigeriaInfo FM, Kofi Bartels who was seriously brutalised and assaulted by men of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has taken to social media to shared what he witnessed when they got to the SARS office to “pick” their assaulted colleague.
See what Sam ‘Oracle’ Chinedu shared on Twitter:
“A THREAD WITHOUT A NEEDLE.
Once upon a time in a country where rules do not apply, a city defined by insecurity lived a people in fear. Fear of hoodlums and security agents. Making it back home alive was a daily miracle.
Some people said living in Port Harcourt should be added to ‘1000 ways to die’. A funny joke, but the dose of humour is accompanied by the sting of truth. The inhabitants can tell. Fast forward to 2 days ago, we got info that our colleague was arrested by the cops.
@Kofi_Bartels is no stranger to law enforcement, he’s had his fair share of detention by DSS. And I thought this was a sequel to his DSS drama. But as the story unfolded, it got uglier by the minute.
Calls were made, names were mentioned and research yielded almighty SARS as the popular choice agents. They gave Mr. Journalist an all expense paid vacation to their base.
@Enigmacity and I were chosen to go pick @Kofi_Bartels from SARS office.
Pick him like he was a kid from school, like he was grocery, pick him like he would be waiting at the door. The mission was simple and I hoped the execution would be simpler. The only person waiting was the doctor that would eventually attempt to treat him.
