Hindrances to Prayer of Importunity

Prayer of importunity is praying until something happens and it is a proof of persistence. You posses what belongs to you by standing strong in prayer.

“Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I
have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his
land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.”- Deuteronomy 2:24.

1. Having alternatives: Trusting man instead of God hinders our prayer. When you pray, depend on  God rather than man.

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” (Jeremih 17:5)

2. Lack of faith: The absent of faith is doubt. Never have doubt in your heart whenever you pray. There is nothing that nautralises prayer than doubt. He that comes to God MUST believe that He is able to do everything that He has promised.

“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” (Mark 11:24)

3. Unforgiveness: You can never receive answers to your prayer if there is an idol of unforgiveness in your heart. Coming to God means you are coming with a clean hand and a pure heart void of offense towards God and man

“And whenever you stand
praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your
Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25-26).
