At least 40 people have been shot dead and more than 20 others seriously injured in New Zealand after two mosques were targeted in a terror attack today, reports says.
They were performing Salatul Jumaah at New Zealand Mosque in the city Of Christchurch, over 40 of Muslims died in a shootout inside a mosque by machine-guns.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed the incident and said 40 people have been killed in an attack at mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch.
Four people have been detained, and one is Australian.
A man who claimed responsibility for the shootings said in a manifesto that he was a 28-year-old white Australian who came to New Zealand only to plan and train for the attack.
