On Thursday 21st February, 2019, the General Overseer of the Deeper Life Christian Ministry, Pastor William F. Kumuyi held a Special Power Night to the Church nationwide fasting and prayer.
Below is the excerpt of the message on “THE GREAT POSSIBILITIES OF FAITH IN CHRIST” as written by Kemisola Omoyiola:
Matthew 9:29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
That sentence coming from the Lord Jesus Christ is the principle that God Himself acts on. Anytime you come before Him, no matter your background, your sin or failure in the past, or your problem, as long as you have faith, you will not be disappointed. He is a God of love, mercy, pardon, and as long as you have faith in Him, it shall be done unto you according to your heart’s desires.
Mark 9:23. All things are possible to him that believes. Tonight is the night, it will be done. No matter the challenges, if Jesus were to address you personally, these are the words He will speak to you.
For with God nothing shall be impossible. What is the problem, sickness, or challenges? There are great possibilities when you put your faith in Christ.
1. ASKING IN PRAYER AS A CHILD – Matthew 7:7-11
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? (God will not give us anything that will harm us)
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
If we as parents cannot deny our children of what they need, but we will go to any length to get it for them, so also will our heavenly Father not deny us of any good thing we desire. Whatever we desire and ask for is what we get tonight. We shall not ask or seek in faith.
18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Anytime Jesus says the words, “verily, verily I say unto you…”, He is trying to assure us that those things He is saying are unchangeable. Why will we not bind the enemies that are making our lives difficult and miserable? We have authority and power tonight that anything and everything we ask for we will get.
Matthew 18:19. If two if you shall agree: husband and wife, brother and sister, a friend and another friend, pastor and any member, prayer partners, there is no limit to what we can ask for tonight. We can ask for anything!
19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Heaven is waiting, the Lord is waiting for us to ask. We shall receive!
Any tree that is not yielding fruits, or not adding value to our lives will wither away tonight as we pray in faith.
Ephesians 3:20-21. The God we serve is more than able to save, heal, deliver, cleanse the leper, etc. He is able to roll away all challenges. God will go beyond our prayers and expectations in Jesus name.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Why is it world without end? Some people say there is no more miracles because they have ended. This is not so. The miracle working power of God is still efficacious today. He will continue to answer our prayers.
2. APPROPRIATING THE PROVISION WITH CONFIDENCE
God is expecting us to know already that anytime we ask, He will hear us. Provision has been made for every need in our lives, all we need to do is to ask and claim what rightly belongs to us in Christ.
29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
All we need to do is ask confidently.
Mark 7:27-29. This woman asked for healing and deliverance for her daughter. Jesus referred to all she was asking for as the right of the children, that is the Israelites. The woman was not discouraged, she pressed further confidently until she got her hearts desire. Her daughter was delivered.
I John 3:21-22. We must have confidence towards God. ch 5:14-15
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Genesis 21:15- In this case, there was no water to sustain this woman and her son. God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water, she filled her bottle, drank, and gave to her son. She did not wait for anyone to tell her what to do with the water. She quickly appropriated the provision to meet her need.
IF YOUR EYES ARE NOT OPEN, YOU WILL FEEL HOPELESS AND DESPONDENT
ONCE YOUR EYES ARE OPEN, YOU SEE AND APPROPRIATE GOD’S BLESSINGS
3. ACTING LIKE POSSESSORS AND CONQUERORS. I Samuel 1:10-18
Once you appropriate, everything about you becomes different. This was Hannah, the woman who was looking up to God for the fruit of the womb. She was in the temple, mumbling her request from a sorrowful heart to God. The man of God assured her that her prayers were answered. She stopped praying, weeping, and being sorrowful, she ate. This is the action of a possessor. At the end, she got her heart’s desire.
II Kings 4:19-20-26,36. The gift, the provision God has given to us shall not die. Our miracle and testimony will not die. This woman exhibited so much faith that her husband did not know what happened to her son. She also exercised so strong a faith, she kept repeating, IT SHALL BE WELL, IT IS WELL.
Life came back to the child. The state of death was temporary. The faith of the woman was blessed.
Obadiah vs 17.
But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
