An unconfirmed number of persons are feared to have died when a petrol station caught fire in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, on Monday.
The station caught fire as workers offloaded gas at the plant. Shops and houses were also burnt.
The incident occurred when the gas station owners attempted to refill their commercial cylinder and there was a leakage.
The fire, which swiftly spread to the other side of the road, was said to have also caught passers-by, as they scrambled for safety.
Many others were severely burnt in the incident as efforts to quench the fire proved abortive.
