Succeeding in the land of my affliction

Genesis 41:52 - “And the name of the second he called Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.”
Succeeding in the land of my affliction
Here we have Joseph declaring the favor of God in Egypt. Egypt was not Joseph’s birth place. He came to Egypt after being sold into slavery. Egypt was not familiar or comfortable and Joseph was a stranger in a strange land. However, Joseph held onto the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

He knew his God was sovereign and not limited to a geographical location. This was the same God, that told Abraham to leave his country and He would make him a great nation. Joseph had to grow up hearing the oral tradition of how God spoke to his great-grandfather.

How many of us limit the sovereign God? We put restrictions and limitations on where, when and how God can bless us. If Joseph had the mindset that God could only bless him in Canaan, he would have missed God’s blessing.
Sometimes God’s favor and blessing comes in unexpected packages! Do you have preconceived ideas of how God is going to bless you?
Do you believe God can bless you right now in your own personal Egypt? Can God make you fruitful in the middle of your desert?

The prophet Isaiah states “Behold I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth, shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isa 43:19

God can bless you right where you are! God can bless you in front of your haters. God can promote you in the midst of backstabbers while preparing a table before you in the presence of your enemies! God can cause you to be fruitful in the land of your affliction.

Do not put God in a box, He is bigger than your preconceived ideas:
· God is sovereign, everything is under His control
· God delights in blessing His children.
