The post is an excerpt of  General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi's Monday Bible Study teaching on 09/01/2017

The purpose of follow up:

• It will give us strong steadfast follow up
• It will give us steady growth of convert.
• It will bring fervent commitment in following up the converts.
• It will prevent the convert from backsliding.

The Purpose Of Follow Up And Visitation: Acts 6:36; Acts 18:22; Romans 1:9.

The method we use in following up the gospel will be seen in the life of the people. And the result will reflex in the life of the brethren in every society.

The Lord is referring us to it, and will must do it effectively {Acts 18:22} And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch" He was strengthen through the purpose of follow up, and to make them strong in the faith. Those in Christ lead them in Christ.

Therefore, they need somebody to feed their soul and strengthen them (Disciple) John 21:14- His Jesus Christ himself did it, and he want us to carry on. Christ died for our salvation in verse 14; "The short time" Jesus Christ show himself to his disciples.
Why?
He wanted to strengthen their faith, and to make them stand, unshakeable John 20:19; when they are fearful, he was there to strengthen them, the result if follow up, the consecration in Christ and strengthen.

Then to the time to rarely gave thyself to the Lord. In verse 25- "And after eight days again his disciple were within, and Thomas with them: then came, Jesus, the doors being shut, and said, PEACE BE UNTO YOU!

The direction of the Lord was in the visitation in chapter 21:1, 3. The tendency is there for the new converts to backslide, the new experience of Christ must be preached unto them daily.

The Lord is telling us to do the follow up wisely and intelligently. Before doing the follow up:
- Pray for the people.
- Reach and touch the heaven and touch them.
- Commit your life into the establishment of the converts, that ye may be establish.

The new converts ate new born babes, they are ignorance, they don't have the experience of righteousness. And it became the duty to nurture and care for them. The purpose;
* Instructive them. Proverbs 22:6 (Train them in the way they should go).
* Inform them. 1 Thessalonian, 3:1-4

* Instill in the new convert (Discipline them in quiet time) Acts 7:11.
* Interpret difficult scripture unto them. 1 Peter 3:16.

* Integrate the new believer into the fellowship of God in local church. Acts 9:26
* Influence them, with positive example. 1 Timothy 4:12
* Inspire the new believers. 2 Corinthians 9:2 (Zealous in the work of God)

The Practice Of Follow Up And Visitation: Acts 15:36; John 9:34,35; Acts 11:25, 26; 1Corinthians 4:17; 2Corinthians 7:13-16

The very good principle is to go two by two, to go for the follow up on those people in every city. Example of Jesus Christ " Jesus heard that they had cast him out: and when he bad found him, he said unto him. Dost thou believe on the Son of God? In our follow up, Philippians 2:19 " But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly, when I know your state".

Paul and Silas, these are the Son of God that show us the example of follow up. In 2 Corinthians 7:13-17. We need to be very careful in doing follow up.

How do we go about doing the follow up and the ingredients needed?
√ PERSISTENCE PRAYER.
√ PERSONAL CONTACT
√ PURPOSEFUL CORRESPONDENCES.
√ PROFITABLE CHRISTIAN LITERATURE.
√ PROMINENT (Appropriate tales)
√ PERSUADED AND PERSUASIVE REPRESENTATIVE.
√ PASSIONATE PATIENT CHRISTIAN.
POINT THREE

The Profit Of Follow Up And Visitation: John 5:14; Acts 2:41, 42; Acts 9:10,20-26,28; Acts18:23.

The profits in doing the follow up- When you have been made whole, the grace to go and sin no more will be in you "Then they that gladly received his word were baptized and the sane day there were added unto them about three thousands souls".

They continue and became part of the church. There are people to with strong attitude, they don't have the attitude in doing the follow up. When the grace of God is there, you will be willing to do the follow up. In the book of Acts 9:20-26, 28. The part is the description of follow up (Saul at Damascus).

The Lord is calling us to do it, so we can become stronger {Romans 1:17}, the profitable benefit in doing the follow up {1Thessalonian 2:17} - For these are new born babes in Christ, Cherish them, nurture them, give them the comfort in coming to the Lord. Willing to impact unto them not only on the gospel, but also on your soul. In verse 9 " For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable ". We must be committed to follow up through to:

• The MISSION of the follow up. Proverbs 29:18.

• The VALUE of follow up. Acts 2:42.

• The VISITATION in follow up. James 1:27.

• The VARIETY of follow up method. 1Corinthians 9:22

• The VIGILANCE in following up.
Proverbs 27:33.

• The VIRTUE during follow up.
2 Peter 1:3,5.

• The VOW of follow up. Psalms 76:11.

The Lord will give us the grave to do it " FOLLOW UP " and to evangelise, to go beyond, enlighten and encouraging other converts. The grace to stand, strong and steadfast in serving the Lord in Jesus name.

I AM READY FOR SERVICE FOR THEE DEAR LORD
