"These things saith He that hath the seven Spirits of God. . ."

Ministering Divine Life To A Dead Church - Revelation 3:1-6, kumuyi

This shows that John was just a messenger and not the originator of the message. Jesus was in heaven, speaking through John to the church: His bride, bought and washed in His blood.
As we have learned before, the angels are the leaders, ministers, pastors of the church and they are responsible for preaching and sustaining the gospel. Jesus keeps talking to the church leaders to keep them on track, and keep them going strong.
As an angel of the church, a leader must always be at the forefront and going strong, even if he has his own secular engagements, even if he is weak and weary. Acts 27:23: the leaders must know that they belong to God at work time, holiday time, in the day, in the night, etc.
The church is a special group, assembly, and congregation of people: Acts 20:28. The leader who would minister to these special people, purchased properties of God must be saved, sanctified, saturated with the word of God and Spirit-filled.

The church belongs to God, hence, leaders must show to them the commitment, attention and love they would show to God. I Corinthians 6:19-20; Matthew 16:18. Jesus referred to the church as "my church". Leaders must be careful how they deal with the church of Jesus Christ.
Note: We had issues with our generator last night, so we didn't get the subtopics when Baba gave them out. I would appreciate an updates from anyone who got them correctly. God bless you all.

Jesus wants churches in every city: Mark 16:15. It is the will of God that the gospel be preached to every creature, everywhere.
Titus 1:5 - there should be churches in every city.

     A. The Reputation And Works Of A Dead Church.

"seven Spirits of God"
This means the full, whole Spirit of God. The number '7'means perfection, wholeness, completeness. Isaiah 11:2. The Spirit of God is the Spirit of wisdom and understanding; the Spirit of counsel and might; the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of God. John 3:34.
"and the seven stars"
These are the pastors of the seven churches, fullness of the stars, of the preachers that watch over the churches.
"I know thy works"
Jesus knows everything. No one can hide anything from Him. He knows us inside and outside.
A 'dead church' is an assembly of dead people, worshipers.
Characteristics of a dead church:
1. Self deception: Revelation 3:1. Claiming to be what one is not. Galatians 6:3.
Claiming and professing salvation and other Christian experiences that are non-existent.
2. Spiritual deadness: Ephesians  2:1. Sin, iniquities, transgressions deaden the church. Jude 12; I Tim 5:6, living in pleasure of wine, alcohol, merriment, worldly dressing/appearance, programmes of the world. They are incorrigible.
3. Serious deficiency: Revelation 3:2. In the church, some were already dead while some were about dying. II Chronicles 25:2. Doing the right things but not with a perfect heart.
4. Scarlet defilement: Revelation 3:4. In the church, only a few were clean, majority were defiled. Isa 1:18 - invitation to all the defiled.

Ezekiel 36:25: salvation; vs 26: sanctification; vs 27: Holy Ghost baptism.
These works of grace are what a dead church needs to experience in order to please God. Today's church also needs these works, no one knows the last message, last Bible study he or she would hear, the last opportunity to make amends.

B.  The Realization And Watchfulness Of The Deficient Congregation.

Revelation 3:2-3. It is important to REMEMBER: the first love, our salvation at the first, how we used to be when we first believed. We must remember where we missed it, what defiled us, what cooled us down. This realization will help us find our way back to God.
"Be watchful" Luke 21:34-36.

Some people get so happy about life's achievement and forget themselves and lose it. There is the need to watch our steps, interactions, relationships with people within and without. We must also pray always.

Strengthen the dying remnants: Revelation 3:2
Strengthen the people. Give them the word of life. Preaching is not for entertainment but to strengthen, uphold and edify.

Acts 18:23. Paul went round strengthening the church, leaders should do same today.
Perfect your work: Church leaders should preach, pray, counsel, lead, so that the people of God are perfected. Colossians 1:28.

Revelation 3:3; We must always remember how the church was at the beginning, when we first believed, how the brethren were then. These days, people don't remember such things, they are totally cut off from their roots. They have forgotten the doctrines of holiness, restitution, living in peace with others, etc. Acts 20:26-27.
"Hold fast" Revelation 3:3; II Timothy 1:13-14

Leaders are warned to be watchful and hold fast the doctrines, friendships, fellowship. They must not be carried away to the point of losing the Christian experiences.
"Repent" Revelation 3:3

Total, genuine repentance is required, from leaders to the members. For repentance to be effective, it has to start from the top. Jonah 3:6-8. No one should feel too big to repent when required. Repentance, not reactions to the word of God. Restitution where necessary.
Take heed to the warning. Matthew 24:42, 44
